A Nostalgic Autumn at Belmont Park

Beachside Fall Fest at Belmon ParkCarnival Games at Belmont Park

The annual Beachside Fall Fest at Belmont Park San Diego is back in 2024 for the fall season.

Livening up weekends in Mission Beach, the autumn extravaganza has all the rides and attractions that have made Belmont Park a fixture of Southern California’s theme park scene since 1925, including the iconic Giant Dipper roller coaster, plus tons of special activities exclusive to the event.

You’ll find amazing live music concerts, kid-friendly Halloween celebrations, local food and drink vendors. There’s even a Beer Fest!

In 2024, the Beachside Fall Festival began on September 7th. Never fear, though - this is a two month event that runs on weekends all the way until October 31st, so there’s still time to catch some shows and walk the festival grounds.

Embracing the Retro Vibes by the Sea

Belmont Park is San Diego County’s only theme park located right along the beachfront, so you can’t get better views or a more classically San Diegan atmosphere.

The Beachside Fall Fest joins other holiday celebrations in the fall, including family-friendly options like visiting pumpkin patches and checking out the many Halloween attractions and events throughout the city.

It’s been a long standing fall event and given that many of the most popular attractions in San Diego, from the San Diego Zoo’s HalGLOWeen to SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream, are also offering seasonal events, I am not surprised to see Belmont Park’s unique experience continue in 2024.

As one of the city’s oldest and longest-operating theme parks, Belmont Park is the ideal place to indulge in a little retro nostalgia! There are rocking displays that bring the past to the present throughout the park which help set the vibe and make for great photo spots to commemorate your time at the festival.

Stay Bayside - Near Belmont Park!

The perfect complement to a beachside festival is a bayside hotel, and one of my favorites in the area is The Dana on Mission Bay.

It boasts a gorgeous property that feels secluded by the waterfront while still being close to tons of excellent attractions, chief among them SeaWorld San Diego - and of course, Belmont Park, too!

Savor the Flavors with Belmont Bites

If you’re anything like me, you like to eat! I think the food vendors are half the fun at any event, and this fall celebration has plenty to choose from no matter what you’re craving. You can plan to find stands run by local restaurants, bakeries, and even coffee shops.

From seasonal treats like pumpkin pie milkshakes and specialty fudge to tried-and-true fair staples like burgers and funnel cakes, I can promise you that you won’t leave hungry.

Introducing the Fall Flavor Pass

If you’re the type of person that likes to try a bite from a few different vendors, the Belmont Bites Fall Flavor Pass is the way to go!

For just $35, you get five different fall treats from select stands. They include some sweet treats plus an entree and beverage.

The Fall Flavor Pass is brand new in 2024. This year it gets you everything listed below.

  • A mini orange Dole whip
  • A mini caramel apple funnel cake
  • A mini maple bacon fudge
  • A full size chai or boba tea
  • A full size chicken tenders or BBQ bacon jalapeño burger

Bundle Deals for More Savings & Fun

The Flavor Pass isn’t the only way to save at Belmont Park!

Families can also bundle it with the Ride and Play pass to try out the park’s rides and games and save on Belmont Park tickets. You can get further discounts to dozens of other attractions like the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park when you buy a Go City San Diego pass using our discount code GVSD5OFF!

The Go City San Diego pass is one of my insider tips for my friends and family because it allows them to do a lot, and see even more. It’s the best way I know to get gear rentals like snorkels, bikes and stand up paddleboards plus the biggest discounts to the most popular attractions in town.

So I think if you’re by the seaside, why not take advantage of the other great benefits of the Go City San Diego pass? As a surfer myself, I know fall brings in some prime conditions, so I’d suggest renting a surfboard and signing up for surfing lessons held at one of San Diego’s most iconic beaches.

There’s also some of San Diego’s best weather of the year in the fall, so a trip to SeaWorld San Diego or the Howl-O-Scream Halloween event with your teens one evening in October is another fun activity I’d highly suggest.

Though some events like Succulents & Sangria and Paint & Sip have already passed for this year’s celebration, you can still catch live music and a special beer-centric celebration toward the end of Fall Fest.

Belmont BeerFest Debuts

New to this year in 2024, the Belmont BeerFest on Sunday, October 20th promises to be one of the biggest events of the festival. The festival is free to attend, and you can listen to live music and play fall-themed gourd games at no additional charge.

But of course, the main attraction here is the beer! For craft beer enthusiasts, the best way to find your new favorite brew from over 20 local breweries in attendance is with the All You Can Drink Wristband. The wristband includes unlimited pours for one flat fee and can be purchased online.

Pizza Port Brewing

I think it’s worth mentioning that one of the staples of the San Diego beer scene is available at the fall festival. Next to Stone Brewing, Pizza Port Brewing is the next big name and one of my personal favorite breweries. Their food, which is delicious, will also be available.

Pizza Port is very local ‘San Diego’ to me so having them featured at the event makes a lot of sense!

Pumpkin Jams and Live Performances

Fall Fest’s main performances are its weekly Pumpkin Jams.

A lineup of bands and live musicians provide the backing track to a day of fun by the seaside. You can enjoy the music as you walk around, but it’s well worth swinging by the Fall Fest Stage in the midway area of the park to join the crowd.

And don’t worry, you’re not too late for 2024! There’s still time to catch a show as Fall Fest enters its final two weeks.

Acts that will hit the stage during this sendoff include two featured Pumpkin Jam performances on October 27th: Kid Tributes and the VIP School of Music.

VIP School of Music

Local residents of all ages will show off the skills they’ve learned in their lessons at this El Cajon-based music school. The VIP School of Music takes the Fall Fest Stage from 12:00-1:30 pm on Sunday.

Kid Tributes

Kid Tributes is a band that covers classic rock songs that defined the 70s and 80s - but what you might not expect is that this band is made up of middle schoolers!

Join these old souls as they perform timeless tunes that bridge the generation gap from 3:00-6:00 pm.
