I previously mentioned the premier location of the hotel in Downtown San Diego. But what about amenities and things to do onsite?
Let’s dig a little deeper into onsite offerings as well as some of my favorite things to do in the surrounding neighborhoods.
What to Do at The Westgate
From spa treatments to ballrooms for grand-scale events, The Westgate Hotel’s staff is committed to ensuring you have everything you need during your stay.

Amenities that Set The Westgate Hotel Apart
Set aside time for a luxury spa treatment at Aqua Vie Spa or participate in an exercise class offered in the fitness center, where you will find over 200 weight and high-tech pieces of cardio equipment.
You can also visit the rooftop heated pool and hot tub, run a few laps around the outdoor track, or lounge in the sun with Downtown San Diego in the background. These are all offerings waiting for you at the hotel!

Meetings, Weddings & More
The Westgate Hotel is well equipped to accommodate business meetings, weddings, and special events. The catering staff can assist you with arrangements, and you’ll have over 12 meeting rooms and the Versailles Ballroom at your disposal.
Set Out for Fun and Exploration
With its location on the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter, The Westgate Hotel is walking distance from both the Convention Center and PETCO Park as well as plenty of restaurants, nightclubs, and boutiques.
Let’s have a look at some of the attractions that are nearby.
San Diego Zoo Map Sign
Visit San Diego’s Major Attractions
San Diego is packed with things to do, many of which aren’t far from Core-Columbia and the Westgate Hotel.
Take a little time to see the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND California or SeaWorld San Diego. You can also easily catch a Padres game at PETCO Park or in the off season, checkout the PETCO Park tour, one of my personal favorites for families.
As for museums, take your pick! Learn more about the city’s military history at USS Midway Museum, or tour some of the more than a dozen Balboa Park museums and stroll through the quaint gardens.
Many of these attractions are part of the Explorer or All-inclusive versions of the Go City San Diego pass, an excellent option for those who want to see and do it all during their stay in San Diego. Save even more on admission when you use our discount code GVSD5OFF at checkout.
Sunset in Mission Beach
Make Time for a Beach Day
Head to the Pacific Ocean at Mission Beach or Pacific Beach to sunbathe, swim, surf, or paddle board. You can also go kayaking through the sea caves in La Jolla Cove.
Another benefit of the Go City San Diego pass is getting discounts on beach gear rentals. If you’re planning to surf, kayak, or paddleboard, pre-purchasing a pass will help you save.
Trail at Torrey Pine State Natural Reserve
Tour the Great Outdoors
San Diego's sunny weather and mild temperatures mean you'll want to maximize time spent outside.
Rent a bike and ride through the city and along Coronado Island on the Silver Strand, or hike the trails of Torrey Pines Natural Reserve or at Cabrillo National Monument. You can even visit Torrey Pines Golf Course to hit the links or visit one of the area’s other premium golf courses.
Want to spend more time on the water? Book a fishing excursion or a whale-watching tour that leaves from San Diego Bay or one of the nearby marinas.
Pottery Barn and Many More Stores at Fashion Valley Mall
Explore the City
Why not get to know the city while you’re staying at The Westgate Hotel?
The hotel’s location puts it nearby plenty of interesting areas, from the shopping malls of Fashion Valley Mall, Hillcrest, and Seaport Village to the historic neighborhoods of Little Italy, Old Town San Diego, and La Jolla.
I also recommend taking the Gaslamp Quarter Food & Drink Walking Tour, which is one of the most fun ways to see the city for foodies and history enthusiasts alike!
