Each neighborhood in San Diego has its own attractions, and Point Loma is no different!
But let’s also not forget the things to do at the hotel itself beyond the incredible dining and refreshing pool. Read on for a few highlights of things to do at The Pearl Hotel as well as in the surrounding areas.
Hotel Amenities and Activities
The Pearl Hotel might not have the kinds of extensive amenities you’d expect at a resort, but it still provides worthwhile services and amenities.

Check Out Dive-In Theater Nights
You’ve heard of a drive-in theater, but what about a dive-in?
On select evenings at The Pearl, you can watch a movie projected over the pool, either sitting at the poolside lounge or while going for a swim! This is a weekly event held after 8:00 pm and typically intended for adults based on the movie the hotel is screening.
All hotel guests are invited to attend and hop in the pool at no additional charge. Even non-guests can get in on the fun with a drink purchase!
Note that Dive-In showings were paused during the onset of the pandemic, but a return is planned soon, and The Pearl Hotel is hoping to announce new event dates in the near future.
Be Part of an Artist Showcase
Hit the bar and lounge to check out a new artist every week! The Pearl is constantly spotlighting local artists in many different mediums, from performances and music to paintings and sculptures.
The artist showcases help keep the decor at the hotel fresh while also drawing attention to some truly talented individuals, which is a win-win for hotel guests and the community.
Downtown, Point Loma & Much More!
Make The Pearl your headquarters as you sight-see around San Diego Bay, the downtown area, and other districts during your stay. Here are just some of the amazing activities I suggest you try.

Explore the Outdoors
Point Loma is a big hiking destination with lots of different options.
Take a short walk to Shelter Island, where you can go sailing or charter a fishing excursion from the marina. Or hike to Cabrillo National Monument, making time to explore the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and the tidal pools while you’re there.
Of course, you can’t miss the best view of the Pacific Ocean from Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, one of our top places to see the sunset in San Diego - though the sunrise is just as stunning from the summit!
You’re not limited to Point Loma attractions either. Rent a bike to explore the waterfront or ride along the Silver Strand on nearby Coronado Island. Mountain bike or hike through Torrey Pines Natural Reserve, or even schedule a whale-watching tour or harbor cruise around San Diego Bay.

Go Shopping
Within Point Loma, you can visit Liberty Station, a formal Naval Training Center transformed into a shopping and dining destination.
Other nearby options include shopping ‘til you drop at Fashion Valley, Hillcrest, and Seaport Village. You also can’t go wrong hitting the town for dining and live entertainment in the nearby Gaslamp Quarter.
