With a stay at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort, you’ll have a full array of activities right on property that can keep you and your party quite happy.
When you’re ready to go exploring San Diego, you’ll be centrally located for visiting beaches and the area’s most popular attractions, from the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park to museums and nearby parks for hiking, biking and so much more!
Here are some of my favorite things to do onsite and nearby the San Diego Mission Bay Resort!
Large Beautiful Pool at the San Diego Mission Bay Resort
On the Property
Get ready to make some tough choices, because the resort has so many activities that you may need to stay an extra night to experience them all.
Here are my top five onsite activities I hope you get to try!
Go for a Swim
Dive into the heated outdoor swimming pool, then relax in your private poolside cabana. If you have little ones, they will love the shallow wading pool that’s always a hit with the three-and-under crowd.
Rest and Recharge with a Spa Day
Nourish your mind, body and soul as you indulge in a full-service spa treatment at Spa Brezza, which also offers club memberships to local residents.
Get a Workout in at the Fitness Center
Take a fitness class or work out at San Diego Mission Bay Resort’s state-of-the-art fitness center.
The fitness center is open 24 hours a day and offers fitness equipment, free weights and a dry sauna, as well as private men’s and women’s locker facilities.
If group workouts are your thing, be sure to sweat it out together in one of the resort’s morning bootcamp, Pilates, yoga, or Zumba classes.
Play a Round of Tennis
Play singles or doubles at the hotel tennis courts.
Enjoy Exclusive Beach Access
Head to the beach from the resort access, where you can check out chairs, umbrellas, towels, and sand toys, all while enjoying food and drink service at your disposal.
Take part in a game of volleyball, bean bag toss, sandcastle building, bonfires and more while taking in the Southern California sun.
Swimming Turtle at Turtle Reef in Seaworld San Diego
Off the Property
Whether you’re a culture or history buff, adventure seeker, or a family on vacation, when you step outside the resort, you can make San Diego your playground.
Many of the attractions I’m about to suggest are part of the Go City San Diego pass which offer discounted admission to nearby attractions like SeaWorld San Diego, the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND California as well as for entry to museums throughout the city and gear rentals like kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkeling gear.
Use the discount code GVSD5OFF for an additional savings!
With that in mind, here are some of the nearby things to do and attractions I think you should check out during your stay.
Enjoy Some Watersports
Rent a stand-up paddle board, pontoon, sailboat or jet ski from the nearby marina and explore Mission Bay.
Learn About San Diego’s Culture and History
Old Town San Diego is a fun little shopping and dining area that’s just over 2 miles away. The area is rich with local San Diego history and Mexican culture.
I think the area especially shines each October as the Dìa de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead arrives. The festivities are something I take my family to enjoy each year and I’d highly recommend it.
Visit LEGOLAND California
If you’ve got a young family, LEGOLAND California is about 30 minutes by car away and offers exciting rides, attractions, and even a water park specifically designed for elementary school age kids!
Explore the Gaslamp Quarter
For the adults in your party, I’d recommend an evening out in the Gaslamp Quarter, a historic district in Downtown San Diego with a myriad of restaurants, live entertainment venues, and boutiques.
Learn About San Diego’s Military History
The USS Midway Museum on the beautiful San Diego Bay is just over 7 miles from the hotel and worth visiting. You’ll get to climb aboard a retired aircraft carrier and learn a bit about the military history in San Diego.
Explore Mission Bay Park
Explore Mission Bay Park, with 27 miles of shoreline, bike paths, playgrounds, and boat docks. Be sure to explore the scenic East Mission Bay Drive, offering picturesque views and easy access to various attractions around Mission Bay.
You can also visit SeaWorld San Diego which is located in Mission Bay Park.
Visit La Jolla
My last suggestion would be to stop by La Jolla. Visit the area’s shops and cafes or rent a kayak and explore the coves.
