A Tour Through the Grande Colonial La Jolla from a Guest’s Perspective

Entrance to the Grande Colonial La JollaMore Lobby Seating at the Grande Colonial La Jolla

There’s something extra special to me about staying at a boutique hotel. And in my opinion, if you can stay by the shores of La Jolla, you absolutely must!

Luckily, the Grande Colonial La Jolla delivers on both of these promises in spades.

Adjacent to some of Southern California’s most picturesque bluffs and beaches, Grande Colonial La Jolla allows guests to relax in unparalleled comfort.

Providing guests with exceptional lodging and service since 1913, Grande Colonial La Jolla is a classic boutique hotel with all the modern amenities our guests expect.

Located in the Heart of La Jolla

One of San Diego’s most upscale suburbs, La Jolla is a village with a multitude of offerings. In their spare time, guests can spend time lounging in one of the local sidewalk cafes or taking in the artistic genius of some of California’s most innovative artists in one of La Jolla’s many galleries.

La Jolla is also a shopper’s paradise with enough fashionable boutiques and stores to keep you occupied for hours.

Of course, one of La Jolla’s greatest strengths is its pristine, world-class beaches that attract both tourists and locals alike. Boasting white sand and deep blue water, the San Diego area is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in America, and many beaches are home to an abundance of sea creatures, such as harbor seals and sea lions.

Since the San Diego area enjoys a nearly perfect year-round temperature and plentiful sunshine, you can enjoy the beach essentially 365 days a year.

My Guest Experience and Personal Recommendations

There’s lots to love about the Grande Colonial La Jolla. Here, I’ll share some of my favorite aspects of this hotel from my perspective as a guest.

An Excellent Location by the Sea

The hotel is inside La Jolla Village, and in my opinion, you can’t ask for a better location.

For one, you’re close enough to the coast to smell that ocean breeze right from your room, and the property’s seaside views are excellent. It’s close enough to walk to some of La Jolla’s most famous beaches, including La Jolla Cove and the Children’s Pool.

For another, the restaurants and stores of La Jolla Village are some of the best in San Diego, and they’re only steps away.

Cool Off at the Bar

The hotel’s NINE-TEN restaurant has plenty of accolades to its name, but I really enjoyed spending time at the bar too.

The NINE-TEN Restaurant & Bar is a fun hangout spot, whether you pop by to rest your feet between activities or you’re relaxing with a drink at the end of a long day exploring La Jolla.

The hotel’s lobby is nice and relaxing. If you have some downtime, I suggest kicking back here, as it’s very easy to relax in the chill atmosphere.
