The Easy, Breezy, Eco-Friendly Way to Get Around Oceanside

I Love the Electric Shuttles in San DiegoOne of the Many Street Murals

Say hello to one of the newest fleets in San Diego. Back for its second year, the gO’side Shuttle Program is here to bring riders from Harbor Drive down to Vista Way and everywhere in between!

These NEV shuttles - Neighborhood Electric Vehicles - deliver riders on quick trips across downtown Oceanside.

Circuit, the creatives behind gO’side and FRED, Downtown San Diego’s electric shuttles, are once again delivering a fun, safe alternative to getting around San Diego without any extra hassles or hidden fees.

Southern California Hospitality Vibes All the Way

Electric shuttles with gO’side deliver big on affordability and efficiency, making it a great alternative to other rideshare services when you’re not trying to get across town, but rather just around the Oceanside neighborhood. From the harbor to the pier to the beach, these shuttles have your Oceanside plans covered.

Leave the Car. Take the gO’side

For me, using a shuttle is really about not having to find parking. Even once I find it, then I have to pay for a spot or pay to park in a lot. These costs in 2024 can really add up!

This can all be a hassle for me and the gO’side is a way to go to dinner in the area without having to worry about parking and getting around.

These electric shuttles can fit up to five guests, so I really can leave the car and take the gO’side.

The fleet returns to transport tourists and locals alike to transportation hubs, where they can also connect to the Oceanside Transportation Center and Coast Highway Station.

This service is designed to give riders and commuters access to the rest of San Diego and her iconic, world famous locations.

Where Can You Go with gO’side?

Riders can go from Downtown Oceanside, South Oceanside, the Oceanside Harbor, and the areas west of I-5 - including East Side Neighborhood to Vista Way.

Downtown Oceanside

Historic locations plus beach culture and a healthy dose of incredible restaurants equals a picturesque hub of culture, fun, and local in-season produce.

Whether you’re looking for a coffee shop to unwind in or want to take a stroll down the Oceanside Pier, there’s always something to do downtown.

Oceanside Transit Center

Guests can connect to several options that can take them further into San Diego or north to Los Angeles.

Riders can connect to the:

Mid-District / Design District

This is the cross-section between Downtown and South O.

These districts are full of shops, venues, cafes, and bars that are uniquely O’side. If you’re feeling hungry, check out Eater’s Hottest Restaurant in San Diego 2022 and 2023, Matsu.

If you’re looking for something more colorful, I suggest you visit the murals on Wisconsin Ave. IF you’re into street art, these won’t disappoint.

South O

South Ocean’s is the place to go for a family friendly experience.

From the Buena Vista Lagoon nature preserve to a retro bowling alley to the beautiful Buccaneer Beach, visitors can feel like locals for a day.

What Can You Expect From gO’side?

This fleet is easy to request - you’re only a mobile app or call away from a ride.

How to Ride the gO’side

The mobile app is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Search for the Ride Circuit app. Under location, choose Oceanside and you’re all set.

Don’t have access to the app? That’s ok! Call (760) 547-7870 to book a ride.

Just be aware, gO’side is designed for quick trips and small cargo - so no surfboards.

Is gO’side Private?

Yes, and no.

While gO’side can accommodate five riders, it works similarly to Uber Pool. Others may make a request to ride and join your trip.

However, I think this is part of what makes the gO’side’s experience unique and fun.

Transportation Stations

Riders can transfer to either the Oceanside Transportation Center or Coast Highway Station in order to visit San Diego’s many attractions.

Especially if you’re looking for family friendly spots like Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, or the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park

While the shuttle can’t take you to the safari, it can take you to your next ride.

Visitors can access the San Diego Zoo Safari Park easily via public transportation:

  • Take the gO’side to the Oceanside Transit Center
  • Transfer to the SPRINTER toward Escondido
  • At the Escondido Transit Center, transfer to the 371 Bus to Ramona
  • Exit at Highway 78 & Old Milky Way

While the safari is only approximately a 17 minute walk from here, I would recommend hiring a ride share service to take you the rest of the way for ease and comfort.

When to Request gO’side

Some riders may use gO’side to commute to work or transfer, especially during the evening rush hours.

It may take longer to find a ride during this time.

Personally, I recommend requesting gO’side during visits to Oceanside where you want to just relax or have a few drinks without having to worry about driving or finding parking.

Especially, if you don’t want to have to deal with the hassle of paying for parking or high “it’s busier than normal” fees.

How Much Does gO’side Cost?

Oceanside Pier from Above

Unlike its Downtown San Diego counterpart FRED, gO’side doesn’t offer free rides.

The good news is that rides are offered at a very low price thanks to a collaboration between the City of Oceanside, Visit Oceanside, and The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG).

The price is only $3 per rider, with a cap of $6 per group!

Is gO’side Pet Friendly?

Yes, but at the discretion of the driver and any current riders. I advise consulting with the driver once they arrive.

If it is allowed, please follow the pet etiquette below:

  • Do not allow the pets to sit on the seats
  • Pets must sit on a lap or on the floor
  • Pets must remain safely inside of the shuttle
