Jessica Tucker is our team’s senior content writer and editor originally from New Jersey who graduated with her BA in English from Rutgers University.
In addition to sharing her love of travel through articles, she’s also passionate about editing, and spends the bulk of her free time tying together loose plot threads for novels that she swears will be finished “someday soon, eventually, probably, maybe.”
She’s had a passion for travel since she was young, and family vacations make up some of the fondest memories of her childhood. As a firm believer that “the best way to someone’s - or somewhere’s - heart is through the stomach,” her favorite part of visiting somewhere new is getting to know its specialty dishes.
“An area’s history comes alive through its food. You can learn a lot about the people who have shaped a city over generations just by looking at its restaurants and local delicacies, though I’m just as happy to spend a day or six reading all the fine print on museum exhibits too!”
Never one to turn down the chance to go on a trip, she enjoys getting a first-hand feel for an area’s unique culture and atmosphere through its restaurants and its most beloved local attractions.
In terms of San Diego, it’s no surprise that she loves the culinary scene in just as much as its iconic beaches (“though I’m definitely more of a ‘jumping in the waves’ type than a ‘lounging in the sun’ type”), and she’ll never turn down a day at the San Diego Zoo!
In between writing articles and planning her next trip, she fills her days with building her own culinary skills, reading far too many books at a time, and spoiling her dogs rotten.
